In one of your postings you said, "on October 14, 1843, Hoecken (yes, the same Jesuit who had baptized the children of Murphy) baptized Sallly, aged 6 months, and James, aged 3 years, children of "Greenwood and defuncta" on the same day as he baptized children of Michael Allcott and Sidney Smith. This establishes Caleb Greenwood as living in the area around present Bartlett, Iowa; it tells us that Batchicka, Caleb Greenwood's wife, had died in Fremont county during the summer of 1843." I have not seen these records, but I would very much like to. Can you point me to them or provide a scan of the page(s)? Can you also let me know what records in Holt County might exist and how I might get copies of those? I assume "defuncta" is Latin for deceased as it is similar to what it would be in Italian, correct? Yes, a son of Caleb named John married Sarah Frances Eberman in 1847 in Atchison County. I'm also trying to trace that family, as they were close friends with the Greenwoods out in California and Oregon. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
