February 7, 1924. "Granville C. Reeves".-- Granville C. Reeves was born Oct. 24, 1844 at Athens, Ohio and died on February 1, 1924 at Mulvane, Kansas. His boyhood days were spent at Athens, Ohio. In early manhood he came to Sidney. At one time he lived in a house which stood on the site where Ed King now resides and it is said that he planted the evergreen trees which now adorn the lawn of that place. On November 7, 1871, he was married to Serena Smith of Sidney, whose death occurred October 12, 1919 and whose mortal remains were buried in Sidney cemetery. To them were born two sons, Lester G. and Roy C. of Mulvane, Kansas, both of whom surive the father. The deceased was for some years a resident of Norton, Kansas and was active in the building up of that place.He became a member of Norton Presbyterian church in 1890. In late years his home has been at Mulvane, Kansas. He was a member of A. O. U. W. and I. O. O. F. lodges. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church in Sidney Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev.J. W. Todd of Shenandoah, assisted by Pastor Miles. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. Vernon Johnson, Mrs. J. R. Ettleman, Hubert Hanson and Carl M. Adams. Pall bearers were E. A. Engelke, R. J. Clark, J. J.VanEaton, C. J. Esden, L.E.
