Nov. 4, 1920. "Oscar Martens Killed". -- Last Tuesday, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Sells received a telegram from their daughter, Mrs. Pearl Martens, who is living at Martensdale, Iowa, stating that her husband, Oscar Martens, had been kicked by a colt just back of the ear causing instantaneous death. The accident occured at about six o'clock on Tuesday, October 23 and his body was discovered that evening by his two brothers. Mr. and Mrs. Sells and W. A. Sells left Sunday afternoon for Martensdale where the funeral was held at the Martensdale church, the funeral sermon being preached by the same minister who had married them eight months previous. A mighty sad affair is this. It is true that we know not the day nor the hour. The grief stricken relatives have the sympathy of all.
