"HURT IN FALL, MAN IS VICTIM OF FREEZING'".--Joseph Mead, past 60 years of age and for many years a resident of the Percival community, was found injured and frozen to death near the Missouri line south of Hamburg Sunday afternoon. Although the exact cause of death may never be known it is believed that the unfortunate man fell from a cattle pass, above which there was no guard rail.. It is believed Mr. Mead met death some time Saturday evening. A wound at the base of the skull was found by a coroner's jury and at first the theory was offered that the victim had met with foul play. It is believed possible, however, that Mead either fell from the pavement or jumped to avoid being struck by a speeding automobile, was severely injured and unable to save himself from freezing. to death. Funeral services were held at Hamburg yesterday afternoon and interment was in Nebraska City cemetery. Mead, a bachelor, is survived by numerous relatives in the vicinity of Payne and Percival.
