There are 13 matches that come up, including some from one Thomas who says he lives in Quebec. I'm sure that in one of his posts, he outlines the family of Adeline Jiggar. Since posting some of my notes on Trudeau, I've discovered that he appears to have had some acquaintance with Michael Descouteau who was with McKinley (?) when he established a fur company trading post amongst the Blackfoot Indians about 1830. Then about ten years later, Descouteau was one of those selected by John Charles Fremont for one of his expeditions in the FAR WEST. (Fremont made the statement that he wanted only men experienced in the ways of the western plains as members of his expedition. That's the reason I think it must be the same man.) The Jesuit records at St. Marys, Kansas, show that the mountain men who were amongst the Blackfoot during the 1830's had returned to the Missouri river area within "The Nishnabotna" and "The Council Bluffs" stretches along the that river. When Descouteau died in French Village, The Nishnabotna, Fremont county, I find Trudeau, Bruno, Kenceleur and Livermore connected with Descouteau within his estate records. I know that Bruno ! was among the Blackfoot in some capacity, and that Kenceleur was largely responsible for the famous Platte Bridge in Wyoming on the Oregon Trail -- SO--they would have been compatible with Descouteau, personality wise....Well, all of this explanation so you might know why I ask if the name "Descouteau" means anything to you? His estate records say he left a widow, and his parents who lived in Canada.
