I'm copying the following from Mabel's notes. 1.--Rev. John Todd of Tabor mentioned as outstanding abolitionist. Once dressed a slave woman with a veil, cloak, and gloves to look like his wife and drove her in his buggy to Lewis, 50 miles away, in broad daylight. Todd kept in his barn one winter 200 rifles which had been sent by the Mass. - Kansas State Committee for John Brown's use in Kansas.--Curt Harnak in "The Iowan", pp. 20-23, 44, 47. 2.--1849: Settlers in Benton township, 1849, included Rev.
