I'm copying the following from Mabel's notes. 1.--1813: J. C. Scott, born 1813 in Kenturcky; Judge of Atchison county, Mo., before State of Iowa was organized.--Hist. Fremont County, page 644. N.B.: This would have to be referring to a so-called "county judge", three of whom ran the business affairs of the Missouri counties much as the 3-man county commissioners ran the affairs of Iowa counties before the County Judge system was inaugurated.--W.F. 2.--Pleasant Grove school is located on what is now the Fred L. Johnson home, south of the Scott homestead.--Reporter. 3.--1840: On the Clark Scott farm north of town is a pear tree planted by his grandfather, John Clark Scott, shortly after he homesteaded in 1840.--Hamburg "Reporter" 4.--1842: Sarah Scott was the first white girl born in Fremont county, Feb. 27, 1842, daughter of "Judge" and Mrs. J. C. Scott, among the first settlers in Pleasant Grove. She married Ed Elledge, and moved to Nebraska in 1886, and later to near Osage, Kansas.....Clark Scott still resides on the original homestead.--Hamburg "Reporter", Centennial issue, Oct. 24, 1946, section 5. 5.--1845: J.C. Scott appointed a justice of the peace for Bluff township.--Atchison County Court, Aug. term, 1845. 6.--1846: John C. Scott appointed an allotting justice for Bluff township.--Atchison County Court, Apr. term, 1846. 7.--1850: ORDERED to serve as petit juror at the first District Court.--Minutes, Feb. 4, 1850. 8.--1850: Federal Census, Fremont county, Iowa John C.
