Neb. residents going to church in Hamburg, Iowa Classification: Biography Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ok.2ADE/1890 Message Board Post: Should anyone be interested, the Hamburg "Reporter" of August 1, 2002, printed an unindentified picture of a church which stood at the corner of "E" street and Washington in Hamburg, Iowa. The 1904 "Directory of Hamburg", page 33, identifies the location of the Latter Day Saints church as having been at that address "for the last 10 or 12 years". I do not have many notes on that church, but am of the understanding that the LDS had an "organization" on McKissick's Island dating from around the 1870's.... McKissick's Island is actually a part of Nemaha county, Nebraska, even though it's located just a short distance southwest of Hamburg, AND on the east side of the Missouri river! Of course, the point is that there might be someone from Nemaha county looking for lost church records, that might be found amongst those in Hamburg, Iowa.
