I'm copying the following from Mabel's notes: 1849: T. M. Gordon elected county commissioner at the first election in April 1849.--Lingenfelter, page 8. N.B.: I think Lingenfelter is incorrect in his date for this kind of election. FREMONT COUNTY WAS ORGANIZED IN THE SPRING OF 1849. The election which took place in the spring of 1849 was for the purpose of organizing the county into districts so that the regular election in the fall of 1849 could take place!
