I'm copying the following from Mabel's notes. 1.--I DO NOT FIND HIM IN ANY OF THE FOUR CENSUS REPORTS! 2.--1843: In 1843, came Dr. Richard Buckham who organized a Reform Church in Pleasant Grove, just south of Sidney. This was the first church organization in southwestern Iowa.--(1). Mary Zinzie Penn's "Early History of Sidney", written in 1900 and published in the Shenandoah Evening Sentinel. (2). 1881 History of Fremont county, page 510. 3.--1843: Dr. Richard Buckham was the second preacher in Fremont county; organized the Reformed Church in PLeasant Grove in 1843 and owned a claim where Mrs. Jane Buckham lives.--Lingenfelter's 1876 Hist. of Fremont county. 4.--1853: Richard Buckham married Mrs. Julianna Baird, July 24, 1853. Married by John Mullen/Mullis in Atchison county.--Marriage Book A, page 53.
