    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Flourey, Fleurie, Merriville, Merrival Classification: Biography Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ok.2ADE/1750 Message Board Post: During her retirement, Mabel Bridges (4/6/1891 - 4/18/1976), using a card file, gathered notes on the earliest of the pioneers in Fremont county. I'm copying the following from Mabel's notes: 1.--1850: Fremont county, Iowa, Federal Census (John Flourey is listed in the Joseph Merival household.) John Flourey....45....b. Canada Margaret..........23........Unknown Louisa...............6........Missouri Charles..............4.......Missouri John..................2........Missouri N.B.: Joseph Merrival later became well known in the context of the history of Bozeman Trail. He is another example of the calibre of the people who were living in French Village in southwestern Fremont county. I have seen his picture in Washington, D.C. (The Smithsonian?)....Margaret Flourey was of Indian blood, SO, one might be well advised if they were to consider "Missouri"--when speaking of the birthplace of her children--as referring to "Missouri River Country", and not be limited to the borders of the State of Missouri as known today.--W.F. 2.--1852: Fremont county Census: "Madison township" John Flourey....3m....2f 3.--1854: Fremont county Census John Fleurie....4m....2f....1 voter....1 militia....no aliens 4.--1856: Iowa State Census, Fremont county, "Madison township" John Flourey....56.....b. Canada Louisa.............13.........Indian Territory John.................7..........Indian Territory
