As "Belle", she is shown in the 1870 census for Scott township, Fremont county, Iowa. At one point in time, I must have tried to find more info on Philip and Sarah (Eccleston) Mains' family, because I have a note saying that the paper at Sidney which probably would have had an obituary for the death of Charity Eveline (Mains) Ettleman, had missing issues for November 8, and 15, and 22, 1923. C.E. Ettleman had been killed in a railroad accident on Nov. 13, 1923--so THAT should have been in the paper. I also see that I have not been able to locate her son William Pierson, a son from her marriage with John D.A. Pierson while they were living in Des Moines county. In 1885, William was living with Hiram and Charity Ettleman at Bartlett, Iowa, and that is the last note on him that I have. Can you tell me anything about this William Pierson? Mary Abigail Mains married Jacob Feese on March 16, 1863 in Des Moines county, Iowa. By 1880, they had moved from Flint River, Des Moines county, to Rawls township, Mills county, but by the 1900 census index, the Feese family seems to have moved from the state. So that lead dried up! Sarah (Eccleston) Main's mother Abagail Eccleston, appears to have been a widow for a long time. I think she was living with Philip and Sarah in the 1840 census for Washington township, Clermont county, Ohio. In the 1850 census (she was living with Philipp and Sarah in Clermont county) Abagail said she was 67 years old and had been born in Vermont. In 1860, she was still living with her daughter's family.
