I'm copying the following from Mabel's notes. NOTES: (1).-- A pastor of the Mount Olive Baptist Church.--Elias Findley was District Clerk from 1855 to Oct. 18581881 Fremont County History, page 557, 459. (2).-- Lingenfelter calls him "Rev. Elias Findley". (3).-- Elias Findley, a pioneer`minister who afterwards became Clerk of the District Court, settled near Sidney.--The Reporter. (4).-- Elias Findley, foreman of the grand jury of the first District Court held in 1850 at the house of A. H. Argyle.--Historical Atlas of Iowa, page 423. 1.--1848: Missionary Baptists in Buchanan county, Missouri, by 1848 had Rev. Elias Findley as their preacher. He left the country and went South when the Civil War broke out. MO Mary A................20........KY Phebe Freeman....15........MO Giles....................12........MO John......................7........MO 3.--1850: Land Entries made at Fairfield, IOwa, for (1) the east half of the southeast quarter; and for the west half of the southwest quarter; and for lots 5 in section 21, 6 in section 22 township 67 range 41. All dated June 10, 1850.--AND--(2) the southwest quarter of section 13 township 67 range 42; dated Oct. 14, 1850.--1881 Hist. of Fremont county, page 401 4.--1851: ORDERED to serve as grand juror at the next term of District Court.--Minutes, April 8, 1851; Greenwood. 5.--1852: Fremont county Census, "Madison township" Elias Findley is not listed, but there a James Findley, Madison township with 3 males and 2 females in the family. 6.--1853: Elias Findley, assessor for Madison township, made his return in July 1853.--Greenwood. 7.--1854: Elias Findley, District Court Clerk, January 1854.--Greenwood. 8.--1854: Fremont county Census, "Madison township" Elias Findley....3 m....2f...1 voter...1 militia...no aliens 9.--1856: Iowa State Census, "Sidney township" Elias Findley............32...b.
