He was the son of Clyde Ross and Erma Leona (Liggett) Farwell, and the descendant of Henry and Olive (Welby) Farwell, immigrants about 1635 from Boston, county Lincoln, England. His grandfather, Byron Skiff Farwell, is number 4702 in the "Farwell Family" genealogy. The European ancestry of the family of Clyde Farwell (1893 - 1967), through Olive Welby, can be traced by using Weis's "Ancestral Roots", or, Buck and Beard's "Emperor Charlemagne's Descendants", or, Roberts" "Royal Descents of 500 Immigrants". The Farwell family was from County Norfolk. His mother (1897 - 1968) was a direct descendant of John Ligget (sic), died 1763, in Windsor township, York county, PA. Her collateral lines of Love, Snowden, Sayre, Haning, Bell, Musser, Brubaker have been published. She had several lines of descent from old families who settled at Salem, Massachusetts including Woodbury, Conant (both called "Old Planters" by Massachusett's colonial history), Thorndike (as shown in Roberts' "...500 Immigrants"). Although the descendants of Hugh Allard, fishing boat captain at the Isles of Shoals, have been traced, there is no publication in book form. Forrest graduated from the Sidney, Iowa, Community Schools in 1954, and from the business administration college at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, in 1963 at which time he accepted a job as traveling auditor for John Deere Company of Moline, Illinois. He was employed as an auditor in the branch internal audit department at Lansing, Michigan, as an auditor with John Deere Ltd. in South Africa. After that, he was a controller for John Deere in southeastern United States at Atlanta, Georgia, and then as a marketing service advisor in the main office in Moline, Illinois. After 29 years, he retired in 1992. At the time he learned of his terminal illness, in November 2001, he was improving his "lake" which he had constructed on a farming property at Orion, Illinois. Forrest Kay "Poot" Farwell was born May 27, 1936 in Riverton, Iowa, at the home of his uncle Forrest Liggett, a town barber. He grew up on the family farm on the southeastern edge of the Nishna Valley neighborhood in Prairie township. At age 12, the family--which included his niece, Judith Jean Harrington--moved to the old Farwell home place in Walnut township , straight north of Farragut in the McIntyre neighborhood, and near the eastern edge of Singleton Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Norma Jeanne (Farwell) Harrington in 1948, and by a brother Robert Farwell of Valley, Nebraska, in 1986, and by his brother-in-law, Charles Neal Harrington. Survivors include his brothers Jack, Walter and Rex; also, his niece Judy (Harrington) Waller, and his brother's widow, Barbara (Surface) Farwell. Forrest served two years in the army. Inurnment was in the Sidney, Iowa, Cemetery.
