Because I have found there will be ever so many others with like questions, I am going to make a new posting and give some preliminary explanations regarding filing at the Land Office. Maybe, I can succeed in racking my brain for the right words, the first time I try this. I'm going to use the Bartholomew as my examples.--Walter

Feb. 15, 1907.--"Riverton News by Dr. S.C. Hatton".--(1). Theo. Kinney and Wm. VanEaton Jr. were over Wednesday on business and made us a very pleasant call. No two men in Fremont county can shed more rays of sunshine, more good words of comfort and inspiration, more good intentions and leave a better state of feeling, a world of good smiles an happy hearts, more of that good old fashioned, homespun sociability than Bros. Kinney and VanEaton. It is a little funny how much of that good natured feeling some men can shower upon his fellow beings and make darkness light and crooked things straight, and then look at some others and they are an iceberg everywhere they go. Did you ever stop to think about these things as you plod along through life--if not, stop plodding a little while and take an observation.....(2). Bert Allison died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Harrison Utterback Monday morning early. Cause of his death reported being pneumonia. Fun! eral the following day and during the funeral they received a telegram from his daughter who lives above the Bluffs, stating she would be here on the Tuesday evening train and his body was held until her arrival. He was buried in the Utterback cemetery Wednesday. They funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Harned.....(3). Mr. and Mrs. Coslett, who were to spend the winter with her sister in Florida, are expected home any day. Eli thinks there is only one good place on this earth and that is this part of old Fremont county and his head is about level and everybody says yes....(4) Joda Barton drives the hack to and from Sidney every day and it is doing him good every trip.

Henry says we wouldn't need any court house if all the rest of the county was like Walnut township. He says there hasn't been a case in court from that precinct for over twenty-five years. While the inhabitants of Walnut township are raising corn that is famed the world around, many of the people in other parts of the county are raising the wrong kind of Cain, and other things that would not look well in print. Tally one for old Walnut. Can any township beat her record?

The Rock Island fast mial train which went into service Jan. 25 is not much of a mail train when compared with those running on the Burlington main line. I suspect you will need a bit more. Your husband's lineage thru Elizabeth Naff who married Abraham Barnhart is not correct. Researchers have been finding from various ways that the Naff book by Boitnott confused two Elizabeth Naffs. I stumbled on this quite by accident...since I have the estate papers of Isaac Naff, Sr.. Isaac Jr. was the administrator. He was living in Sangamon Co. IL. at the time. Elizabeth is clearly named one of the heirs...Elizabeth Flora. She married Joseph Flora, Jr. (Joseph's father was my g.g.g.grandfather) The estate was settled in Aug. 1870. I have prepared a statement (which I have sent to several folks) of the mix-up with the documentation I have used. Would be happy to send it to you..you you would like to e.mail me your mailing address. If your husband descends from the Elizabeth Naff who married Barnhart...then her parentage is entirely different. She was a daughter of Jacob Naff and Elizabeth Stover. Books are a wonderful tool...but most of them contain some errors...this was a huge one. Please do let me know if you would like a copy (2 pages) of the documentation. Roxann
