For the past ten years she has known she was afflicted with concer of the liver and at times all through the years has suffered intense pain. For the last few months she had scarcely been free from constant suffering. Mary Burtiss, daughter of Ira Burtiss and Azurbah (Rinehart), was born in Grundy county, Illinois, Sept. 12, 1865, and passed away at her home Wednesday June 3, 1931. "Thirty Years on the Job".--February first, 1921, marked the thirtieth anniversary of the date that John Iiams went to work for the hardware firm of Travis Brothers in Sidney as a tinner. In the thirty years he has been on the job he has been most faithful. Up to the time he had been with this firm for seventeen years, he had not missed a single day, including legal holidays, except Sundays. In thirty years all the time he has been away from his work would not amount to one month. He has never lost a day on account of sickness. He learned the trade when a young man at the tinshop in Marion, Indiana, forty odd years ago and has worked at the trade almost continuously ever since. During the time that he as been with this firm, the name of it has been changed twice. He first went to work for E.A. and A. N. Travis. Finally A. N. Travis, or "Deacon" as he was better known, sold out his interest to G.T. DeFreece and the firm was known as Travis & DeFreece. On the death of Mr. Travis, G.T. DeFreece bought the Travis interest in the store and has since conducted the business under his own name. Thirty years is long time to stay with one job and few men can lay claim to such continuous service.

Men now receiving aid from the county will be selected first. If not enough such men are available, others will then be considered.
