The 1920 census shows him as being 32 years, born in Kansas to a father who was born in Missouri and a mother who also was born in Missouri. His wife Fannie in 1920 was also 32 years old, and was born in Tennessee as were both of her parents. CHILDREN: Jessie (m), was 10; born in Colorado. Hope was 9 and born in Missouri. Mabel was 6, and Norval was 5, both having been born in IOwa. In 1915, the family said that they had lived in Iowa for five years. I have a note that they do not appear in the 1925 Locust Grove township census by the State of IOwa. I think his father, Jesse, is the two year old son of one James Stanb-a-u-g-h who was living in Madison township, Harrison county, Missouri, page 584 in the 1860 census. The father James, 28, had been born in OHio; the mother Louisa, 28, had been born in Indiana; a daughter Lucinda (?), 8, had been born in Indiana, as had Nathan, 7 and Sarah, 4. Jesse Stanbaugh, 2 years old, had been born in Missouri. Hope this proves to be helpful, instead of misleading, as I have no proof.

I mistakenly noted Mary Melissa (Dyas) Breeding as Emma's sister. Of course, she is my grandmother's mother. So it appears Mary Melissa also married a Cowles (Chauncey) after her marriage to John Breeding. I have not yet followed your suggestion to surf Rootsweb, but I will immediately as I cannot yet connect to Chauncey's ancestry. You deserve my e-mail thanks, Walter--should you desire to offer it!

May I suggest you surf Rootsweb? By this I mean (1) type in www.rootsweb.com in the address bar (and "Enter"). This will give you the home page from which rootsweb operates. Scroll down the left hand side of the screen until you come to the Message Boards and click on the top blue line. This will give you a chance to chose which country you are interested in. CLICK on U.S. This will give you the choice of the all the states in the country. CLICK on "Missouri". When this comes up, and then you will have to chose the county, which in your case would be "Ray". When Ray county, Missouri comes up, (1) type in one of the names of your interest, in the SEARCH space; and (2) click the circle in front of Ray county, or else you will get the whole shabang if you let "ALL BOARDS" have the eye; (3) The click the GO next to the Search Space. If anyone has queried the Ray county boards, it should come up.--Good Luck, Walter.
