"ANDERSON NEWS": a.--Relatives here tell us that Prof. George Showalter, whose wife was Miss Lulu Duff, is to be principal of the schools at Whitman, Nebraska, next year. b.--Mrs. Fletcher had a visit Monday afternoon from her daughter, Mrs. Mabel Lesley and husband, who drove over from Riverton. c.--Mrs. Dora Otte and daughter, Mrs. Jim Mosely, were among the ones we saw in Sidney Saturday.

April 16, 1925. "Riverton News".--Mr Layton White of Hamburg died after a prolonged illness from uremic poisoning. He lived in this community for several years, later moving to Hamburg. He was in the employ of Mr. Tebe Reeves for 12 years and never was off duty for a week during that time. He leaves a wife and five sons, who have homes of their own. They were all present at his death bed, as well as a brother who lives at Oberlin, Kansas.The funeral was held Thursday. Interment in Mt. Zion Cemetery. 2.--Jim S. and Valeria (Rinehart) White: Their daughter Doris M., born Aug. 10, 1917 at Hamburg -d. July 16, 1993 at Gering, Nebr.; md. (1) William Dean Spittler on July 7, 1934; he died in 1983. She married (2) Gordon Clinger on Nov. 3, 1984. 3.--FRANK LAYTON WHITE, b. Dec. 29, 1856 at Osage, Mitchell county, Iowa -d. April 7, 1925; married Nancy Mortimore, b. ca. 1849 in Howard county, Iowa -d. after 1943. Buried in Utterback Cemetery. 1943: of Hamburg, Iowa. He was the son of Josiah White. Children (As far as known): #2.--Milbert Orley, b. June 12, 1883 at Hamburg; married __?__cil Rhinehart, b. ca 1894 at Mitchell, S.D.; md. on Jan. 25, 1913 at Sidney. Daughter of Joe and Carrie Lee (Grant) Rhinehart. #4.--Alva Willard, b. Oct. 9, 1886 in Madison township, Fremont county, Iowa. Wife Mamie. #5.--Charley C., b. April 16, 1889 in Madison township. In 1941 he lived in Shenandoah, Iowa. #6.--Jim Sigle, born July 29, 1891 in Madison township; md. Valeria Rinehart, b. at Mecklin, S.D.; married on Jan. 7, 1914 at Sidney, Iowa. Daughter of A. J. and Carrie L. (Grant) Rhinehart. Lived at Nebraska City, Neb.

Married Catherine Study in 1840 at age 20 years, and by father's will charged with $35 for not remaining at home until of age. Born Sept. 25, 1820 in Stark county, Ohio. Moved with his parents to Ray county, Missouri, in 1835; Mormons were driven out of Ray county and went to Adams and later to Hancock county, Illinois. Had son Frank.--Stanley in the Sidney Argus-Herald of July 4, 1957, page 7. 2.--1846: Born in Ohio; married Catherine Study. Came to Fremont county in 1846,among the first to settle in Scott township. (2).--Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Martin who live east of Shenandoah spent several days the past week helping with the thrashing at the home of his brother Mr. Carey Martin. (3).--Charles and Bertha Spurlock, who had spent several weeks at the home of their grandmother, Mrs. Mary Atwood returned to their home at Elmo, Missouri Thursday. (4).--Mrs. Hugh Latimer and sons, Lyle and Eugene of near Shenandoah spent Friday and Saturday at the home of her mother, Mrs. M.E. McAlister.

"Farragut".--Friends have received word of the death of Mrs. Wm. Smith at her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on July 17. Tuberculosis was the cause of her death. Mrs. Smith will be remembered as Miss Jesse Shultz, daughter of Mrs. Addie Shultz and lived for a number of years with her parents on their farm just east of town. Mr. Winters is now occupying the farm which belongs to Mrs. Shultz. Mrs. Shultz was with her daughter at the time of her death, during her last sickness. It is also stated that Mr. Shultz died a few weeks ago.

July 28, 1921. "Farragut".--Eli Oppenheimer died July 20 at 7:30 p.m., just four weeks after the death of his wife. He was seriously ill with pneumonia two weeks. He was seventy four years, 5 days of age. He came and settled on their home farm in 1874 and lived there until 7 years ago when they moved to Shenandoah. He was a son-in-law of Mrs. Catherine Hall of this place. He is survived by two sons, H. J. and Earl E., living northeast of this place , and daughters, Mrs. Olga Metz of York, Nebraska, Mrs. Sena Larsen of Atkinson, Nebraska and Mrs. Mayme Wyant of Glenwood. The children have the sympathy of many friends.
