I have been trying to trace our Hopkins line from Pa. to Iowa and on. Jonathan and Mary Goss Hopkins brought most of their children to Iowa in 1852. After that I have lost some of the children and trying to find them, and their families.

They were listed in the 1850 Iowa Census in Fremont County. Aaron was 24 and they had 3 children: William (5 years old), Malinda (3 years old), and Zachariah (2 years old). The census states that Aaron was born in VA. I can't find them past the 1850 census. Any help would be appreciated. Deborah Hatfield

I had not heard of Francis Marion Scott until your query. I merely looked him (and her) up in my handy "Name Index to Forney's Five Families." BTW, Francis Marion is a name found in my EULER/EYLER, STUDY, and FORNEY family lines. Sorry I could not shed more light on your GGGGF. Trent

I know he remarried because my grampa Dean Scott had half brothers and sisters. My mom barely remembers her grampa, so she doesn't really know anything about him. I don't see the connection of your Reeves - Irwin to the Meigs County line. Can you tell me more about the Irwin ? My clan of Reeves & Irwin's lived in Meigs Co. Ohio until 1853. Francis Marion Scott appears only on page 197: "SCOTT & ETTLEMAN (67) Francis Marion Scott was a son of David H. Scott and Maria Sage. He was married February 20, 1887 at ot near Thurman, Iowa, by Elder William Leeka, to Martha Jane Ettleman (67), daughter of Samuel Ettleman and Susan Forney, and she was born September 2, 1864 on the Ettleman farm northeast of Thruman, Iowa in Dutch Hollow. Died November 3, 1890 at her home in McPaul, Fremont County, Iowa. Age 26 years, 2 months, and 1 day. Burial was in the Thurman cemetery. Their son: 249. Dean Scott. Could get no record." However, in the Fremont County Cemetery Book published in 1983 on page 235 Hamburg cemetery the following are listed: Bessie E Cory b 2 Jan 1890 d 30 Jun 1941. Also Alvin W Cory b 27 Aug 1889 d 29 July 1944. It is possible they could be related! You should be able to ck for a death record on these two or maybe a will. Perhaps an obit in the newspaper. Go into this message board and type in Corey and see what comes up. I had two messages come up when I did it. The person had Shenandoah for a town of residence, which is on the Page/Fremont county line. Good luck

The only referance I have to a Corey or Cory or Cary in Fremont Co. is an old photo of my Great grandmother Mariah (Reeves) Irwin and her brother Amos Reeves and another person named Susannah Cory or Cary or Carey. Mariah had a sister named Susannah, and this could be her, but I don't have a record of her married to a Cory, Cary ect; I do know Susannah was married previously to a Haning and a Lane.
