Let me know when you put it all on a CD. I'd like to buy a copy. Meanwhile, I'm interested in that Fremont County Cemetery Records book. I need a death record of some sort on Hiram Hunter McClure who is my g-grandfather. I have two of his obituaries, but I need to have a more official record....for the DAR. Hiram and many other McClure's, Swett's, and Greenlee's are buried in Tabor Cemetery. My maiden name is Swett, and my father and aunt were born and raised in Tabor. I was born in Nebraska City. Thanks, Judy

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ok.2ADE/1949.1.4.1 Message Board Post: I think my first post indicated there was NO "genealogy book" - at least none that I knew of. There are two county histories, each of which includ biographical sketches on the prominent citizens of the day. I've taken most of that information, along with Walter Farwell's posts to this board, census data from several years, family records from other web sites, the Fremont County Cemetery Records book, the obits transcribed by Cay Merriman (posted on the "Our Corner" website, etc. and combined it all into what I call my Fremont County Genealogical Database. It has 7,717 marriages and 23,419 names in it today. The thing I enjoy doing is seeing a daugther in a family being referred to as "Mrs. X" and then linking her to her husband's family, getting a view of the inter-marriage of the county's families. I used to have it posted to my Kate Morgan website (a girl from Hamburg who is said to haunt the famous Hotel del Coronado in San Diego), but I took the site down last year because it didn't seem to get many hits. I wish I could distribute the GEDCOM file, but it's over 8 megs, and my Yahoo e-mail service won't send or receive anything over 1.5. Maybe some day I'll buy a CD burner so I can distribute it to people who are interested in the data it contains. I'm always happy to look up information for people, though.

I've accumulated these notes, associated with Thomas: According to his obit, he built the Opera House but it didn't say if it was in Sidney or elsewhere. ------- Thomas had 18 children between his two wives, several having died in infancy. Only one remained in Fremont County, Mont M. Thornton, who died 27 Mar 1953, in Sidney. Thomas had two brothers, Benjamin Franklin and Tiberius, and one sister, Sophia M. There may also be another sister, as the 1850 Census showed a Sarah A. Holly, and her two year old son, William, on the Census with them ... she was listed as 20 years old. Benjamin died in 1854, and is buried in Sidney Cemetery as "Franklin". Their parents, T. P. (Thomas P.) Thornton and Frances Hambrick, both died in 1856, and are buried with Benjamin. ----- The family had moved to Council Bluffs, when Thomas died. He is buried in Grandview Cemetery, with his first wife, and their infant son, Jilson H. Thornton. Charlotte is buried, as her obituary says, in Sidney Cemetery, not far from Thomas' parents and brother. Of the 18 children of Thomas D., only one remained in Fremont County, Mont M. Thornton, who died 27 Mar 1953, in Sidney.
