I'm so excited that we've connected!!! Edward's first wife was Grace Headley. She died April 30, 1915. Your mother was Juanita? Is she the one known as "Muffy?" I'll email you personally to get us started in comparing notes. I have alot of information on this family!!! The most important thing is that the Eli Slusher buried in Slusher Cemetery is not "ours" but probably an uncle. "Our" Eli is buried at Hamburg Cemetery.

I am a direct descendent of Eli Greenlee and Mary Daniel through their son, George Washington Greenlee. I was just noticing that the 1880 Census shows Mary's parents to be from Virginia. I also checked the Rootsweb databases for any Daniel's who were born in Virginia and died in Tennesee. The result was an Edward Daniel, b. 1750, d. 1833 who married Anna Unknown, b. 1750. Their son, William, was born in 1798 in Henry Co., VA, and died in 1821 in Grainger Co., TN. Could this family be related in some way to Mary Daniel? I thought I might relay this information to you. I think Nannie and the Charles b. 1896 must be from another family or possibly Abner's line. I'm hoping that someone with access to the full 1870 census will be able to do some checking for me. Thanks again for replying. If I'm every out that way I'd like to visit the Hamburg Cemetery now that I know that's where they are. Jane

John was my gg-grandfather and I know he had a brother named Abner. John and his wife Margaret (Ricker) lived in Fremont county from 1862 to 1875 and buried three children there (Charlotte, Charles and George). According to the census index, John lived in Franklin and Abner lived in Hamburg. The obituary of John's son says he was born in Hamburg. I've searched the Fremont county GenWeb and didn't come up with anything except the mentions in the census index. If anyone could give me the details from the 1870 cenus I'd really appreciate it. Something else I have says that John arrived in Pottawatomie County Kansas with his brother George so George may have been in Abner or John's household at this time.

Curran; his obituary only says he was born in Dingle, County Kerry, Ireland. Secondly, he died before the 1925 Iowa State Census-- which is another source for finding parental names. James D. Curran is said to have arrived in Boston in 1849 to live with a brother who was living there. I am wondering if his ship would show up on such records. I am not, however, acquainted with that information which immigrants were asked to provide.--Walter Farwell > > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 >

I know James Hay(e)s was the father of my George. The marriage dates match up pretty close too. I know James was married to an Ann Million, who was Goerge's mother. I don't have any information on Anna, when she died. I only know she was born in Texas in 1846.... I wonder if she passed on and James moved up here and married someone new? Question is is this marriage record you're talking about for George and Lillian? Or for James? I do have a Julia who is a cousin to George as well. Kind of off topic question... Would i be able to get a copy of the record in Farragut/Sidney? Or would I have to go to Des Moines to get a copy of it? It would be much easier to go down there for me. And a little faster.

Oct. 15, 1903.--"F> M. KING. Writen by John A. Roberts, An Old Neighbor and Friend--An Account of one Who Made a Success of Life."--Farragut, Iowa., Oct. 12.--Francis Marion King was born in Ohio Oct. 13, 1836. He was left fatherless in infancy and bound out early in his boyhood to a cruel, heartless man, as little or no sympathy was shown him, he left him. His opportunities for schooling were very poor, yet by diligence and perseverance he acquired a fair common school education. He came to Illinois in his early boyhood and there grew to manhood. On Feb. 2, 1859 he was married to Miss Margaret Black and to this union were born four boys and four girls, their names being: R. W. King, John A. King, David F. King, Leonard King, Sylva now Mrs. W. H. Case, Mattie now Mrs. Ben Phillips, Lucy now Mrs. William Bangs and Fronia, Mrs. W. Mills who died recently near Farragut. Seven children, all living near Farragut, and his wiffe survive him and mourn th! eir loss. Comrade King enlisted in the war, assisted in the capture of Brigadier General Van Dorne, was at Atlanta, Macon, in fact followed the flag through many states and its many battles, was mustered out at Camp Butler, ILL., Feb. 1, 1866. In 1870 he moved from Fulton county ILL., to Worth county, Mo., three years later moving to Iowa and in 1884 he came to Fremont county. He was taken suddenly sick last March and the local doctors pronouncing his disease (Brights disease of Kidneys) serious if not fatal. He was taken to Omaha to a specialist and there received no encourgagment. Soon afterward, accompanied by his wife, he went to Eldorado Springs, MO., but the springs did him no good so the doctors advised him to return home and prepare for the worst. His two eldest sons, R. W. and John A., went to assist him home, he being in a helpless condition. They arrived home Sept. 27, he steadily grew worse, most of the time being in an unconscious condition. After intesnse suffering he died Oct. 7, at 7:15 a.m. 1903. The funeral services were held in the M. E. church, Rev. Stephenson, minister in charge, preaching the sermon. The pall bearers were: Dr. Robbins, A. O. Turnbull, R. Hilton, W. H. Roberts, S. A. Thomas and M. M. Chambers. Comrade King had been a member of the Masonic order for more than a third of a century and the family was much pleased with the impressive and beautiful ceremonies of the order. He was also a member of the Grand Army of the Republic. Comrade King filled various township offices to the entire satisfaction of the people. He left no enemies behind, never did anything to make an enemy, was strictly honest and up-right in all his dealings, was a firm believer in the teachings of the "Lowly Nazarene", but had no church connection. It can be truly said that the world is better because he lived. The family wishes to manifest their grateful feelings for the kindness and sympathy shown them by their neighbors during his last sickness.
