Surnames: Wilson, Wall Classification: Death Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ok.2ADE/2029 Message Board Post: THE FREMONT COUNTY SUN. Feb. 20, 1896. "Farragut News".--A sad and fatal accident happened in Shenandoah last Saturday forenooon. S. W. Wilson, of Locust Grove township, accompanied by his brother-in-law, C. H. Wall of Anderson, drove a four horse load of shelled corn into the mill yard at Van Buskirk's Mill in Shenandoah and started to drive onto the dump for the purpose of unloading. The team became unmanageable and started to turn around. The driver, S. W. Wilson, jumped off on one side while Mr. Wall jumped off on the other. When Mr. Wilson reached the ground it is supposed he fell and the horse turning the wagon too shortly caused one wheel to break and the heavily loaded wagon came down upon the unfortunate man's head crushing it like an egg shell. Death was instantaneous, and the victim never moved save to gasp a few times. S.W. Wilson lived upon the Lynn farm about nine miles south of town and leaves a wife and four children. H. C. Wall who was on the wagon at the time of the accident, but jumped to the ground, fractured his arm in doing so. Mr. Wilson came to Fremont county about fourteen years ago and settled on a farm northeast of Sidney. From there he moved to the farm, where he has been living, seven years ago. Just last fall his father died at the age of 103 years in Illinois. Mr. Wilson was 38 years old, and being a renter, does not leave his family in good circumstances. He carries no insurance and is possessed of none save personal property. His eldest child, a daughter, 14 years old and youngest but a trifle over a year.
When visiting Hamburg a couple of years ago I went to the City Hall downtown and inquired about a possible cemetery list. They were most willing to help me find graves of several family members. At that time they had large maps of the cemetery and also a file card cabinet filled with cards listing every known person buried there. Perhaps you could write them and they could help find out if specific people are buried there? I don't know if their listings include those people with no stones. Just an idea... I also have Beason(Beeson)s and Browns in my ancestry also. Good luck. Kay
Between the Cemetery Book and the WPA cemetery records on the Fremont County website I think that would about cover it. Fremont County is a very poor place to get help with research. The Genealogical Society is not active. The public library is no help. There are some obituaries that I have transcribed, and I do have more which haven't been transcribed yet. Do you have dates of death? I know how frustrating it is to be blocked on finding information but I just can't help. I live too far away. Cay Ellen Buglewicz wrote: > > Eli W. and Nancy Jane Slusher were both reported by their obituaries to be buried in Hamburg Cemetery. The funeral home confirmed that Nancy Jane was buried there as well. However, the book Fremont Co., Iowa, Cemetery Records does not list them. Their daughter, Lillie Forrest Slusher is buried there beside Nancy Jane's parents, Leonard D. Brown and Sophire Beason Brown. My guess is that Eli and Nancy Jane are, indeed, buried in Hamburg, but they do not have headstones. Does anyone know if there are any Hamburg Cemetery records available from the Genealogical Society or elsewhere where I might be able to verify my assumption? > > Thanks. > Ellen Buglewicz -- Cay Merryman http://www.rootsweb.com/~iamills/

The seven brothers indicated above departed LondonDerry, Ireland for Philadelphia, PA. The Irvine name was changed to Erwin / Irwin in America. There is a possibility that one or two generations are missing between the Robert’s son's that came to America in 1729 and my 1752 Samuel. Footnote; There is no foolproof records of who my Samuel Irwin parents were. I only know for sure my 1752 Samuel settled in Derry township, Westmoreland County in the state of Pennsylvania, where he first shows as being admitted to the Bar in 1779. Records indicate that he owned a large plantation, and in 1781 he is registered as owning five slaves. In 1792 he is listed on the Derry tax list as a landowne of over 300 acres. In the years 1790, 1800 and 1810 he is listed on the federal census records. His will was written in 1812 and the will was probated in 1821, and settled in 1826, when his sons John and Hugh Irwin sold their holdings of Derry property that they inherited from their father Samuel. The will listed his wife and all of the children. Samuel was probably married in Philadelphia, PA. where there is a listing of a Samuel being married to a Martha on July 27, 1772. Richard Simmins/Simons 2.HUGH IRWIN, Son of [SAMUEL] was born about 1781 at Derry township, Westmoreland County, Pa.. He married 1st to Jane Simons, about 1802. Hugh trained at Murrysville, Pennsylvania and was a soldier in the war of 1812 and was a "Honorary" Captain in the Cavalry regiment of the "Blues" of Westmoreland. In 1817, Hugh, with a William Irwin, (Maybe an Uncle?) floated down the Ohio river on a flat boat raft with their families, livestock and household goods. They landed at "loading creek", Ohio and trekked overland, settling in the wilderness of Canaan Township, Athens Co. Ohio in 1817. In 1824 they migrated south to Scipio township, Meigs Co. Ohio. Hugh and Jane had at least nine children. Jane died in 1845, in Ohio, and Hugh later married 2nd to Loeda Townsend with no issue. Hugh died in July of 1850. He was buried in the pasture of his farm, section 5, east of Pageville per his request. NOTE; Hugh and Jane Irwin may have had more children between Samuel & Hugh. Eli W. and Nancy Jane Slusher were both reported by their obituaries to be buried in Hamburg Cemetery. Thanks. Ellen Buglewicz

I am looking to see if there are any descendants of William H. Lingofelter and Mary Garvin who were married in Kosciusko Co., Indiana in 1894. In the 1900 census in Kosciusko Co., I see a William Lingofelter listed as Divorced, and I suspect this is the same William Lingofelter.
