Her family was from Port Deposit, MD They lived in Liberty, Ind. He was wounded at the Battle of Champion Hill, MISsissippi. He died ca 1887 and is buried at West Point Cemetary, Liberty Ind. Hope this helps someone else. rumour says he was born in Pittsburgh, but I could never find him. The David Coombs family took him in at age 16 and taught him to be a sadler. Do you live out of the state of IA? A person should be able to inter-library-loan genealogy information through your local library. Fremont County has court records on microfilm at the IA State Historical Library in Des Moines. Also, they have newspapers from Tabor, Sidney and Hamburg on microfilm. I live in Cass County IA and I asked today at the courthouse if there are divorce records back into the 1880's. The Clerk wasn't sure how far back the records went and also said counties may differ on their records. I am sure there is someone out there who knows more than I do on the subject! Good Luck! She is listed as divorced. Daniel A. Rhode age 70 born IN is shown living in dwelling 16 household 17 with his daughter Demarius Cobb or Robb and grandchildren Alice, Eva and Thomas Cobb. I located divorce papers at the hall of records in the land records. I was only looking for land records and I didn't know that there was a divorce but it was right there in the records. Sidney is the county seat for Fremont County. Her name Emma Owers, Porter, Earith Rhode. she died in 1887 according to her stone at Sidney Cem. And was wondering if anyone can find any information on her last Husband Daniel A Rhode. They were married in 1876 and he died in 1885 but in the 1880 census it only lists Emma and her son from her second marriage. They lived in Fremont county from 1860-1880. On the 1860 census they were in Monroe twp. The 1870 and 1880 census they were in Fisher twp. Milton married Phebe Ann Hale 1 April 1861 in Albia, Monroe county, Iowa. They had two daughters both born in Shenandoah, Fremont County. Sina J. born 16 Sept. 1863, and Sarah M. born 1869.
