We're always looking for volunteers in the many aspects of what we do - locating and transcribing records, photographing and uploading gravestone photos, etc. Check out this page http://iagenweb.org/state/jointeam.php. There's also a link on the page for learning more about becoming a county coordinator. The counties we have available are: Adams, Calhoun, Carroll, Cerro Gordo, Emmet, Floyd, Jones, Jackson, Lyon, Mahaska, Montgomery, Mitchell, Pottawattamie, Poweshiek, Sac and Tama. Stop in and take a look at those you're interested in. The links to each of the counties are available at http://iagenweb.org/state/colist.php. See something you like? 2. dusters34
    3. The Fourth of July holiday is almost here! For most of us, that means a cookout, fireworks and another day or two that we don’t have to go to work. However, what this holiday is really about is that this day commemorates our independence from Great Britain back in 1776. Exercise your independence this year by becoming an IAGenWeb county coordinator .and experience the satisfaction of bringing IAGenWeb to appreciative genealogists everywhere. New coordinators are needed for JONES, JACKSON, SAC, IDA, CARROLL, GREENE, LYON, ADAMS, POTTAWATTAMIE, EMMET, & MAHASKA counties. 3. As Thanksgiving nears, it's a special time to put some thought into things for which we are thankful.   One of the things I appreciate is IAGenWeb and the fact that we offer a web resource tool for family researchers that is high quality and free. In order to make those resources available, we count on volunteers to assist. IAGenWeb has countless volunteers and we are grateful for all they do.   If you are interested in joining our team as a volunteer, there are numerous ways you can contribute.   One way is to volunteer to transcribe records or you could offer to do look ups.  Another way is to become a county coordinator for one of our orphan counties.  Right now, we have 13 counties that are in need of a coordinator.  They are: JONES, JACKSON, SAC, IDA, POWESHIEK, SCOTT, CARROLL, GREENE, LYON, ADAMS, POTTAWATTAMIE, EMMET, and MAHASKA. For more information contact our Welcome Hosts at welcome_to_iagenweb@iagenweb.org Thank You, Cindy & Karon Welcome Hostess' IAGenWeb

    3. MUSTER ROLL = a soft pastry covered with Grey Poupon. If you know better, you probably already know what the terms, Vital Record, Primary Document, and Mortality Schedule mean. Maybe you’ve thought of sharing your love of genealogy with others, but don’t necessarily want to become a professional researcher.  Here is an excellent alternative – become an IAGenWeb County Coordinator! If you have: (1) computer skills, web page editing (or the desire to learn), (2) a couple of spare hours a week for volunteering, (3) a desire to give people free access to genealogical information, please read our Volunteer Primer at http://iagenweb.org/state/primer.htm We have great county websites waiting for you to adopt as your own: Jackson ** Carroll ** Lee ** Mahaska ** Sac ** Poweshiek ** Ida ** Greene ** Emmet ** Jones ** Lyon ** Pottawattamie ** Scott ** Adams Check out other County Projects at http://iagenweb.org/  for a variety of information provided by other County Coordinators. When you’ve picked a county from the above list that you’d like to coordinate, send us an email <welcome_to_iagenweb@iagenweb.org> We know from experience, it’s fun to be a County Coordinator! 3. Do you contribute to the IAGenWeb project? Do you photograph cemeteries and upload photos to the Iowa Gravestone Photo Project? Do you transcribe military records, histories, birth indexes, etc., and submit to individual county coordinators? Do you transcribe and add obituaries, biographies and/or documents to the county message boards? If you answer yes to any of these, you already have the potential to be a great county coordinator. Having a desire to share with others about their family history is the most important aspect of the position. Having a knowledge of web page editing or the true desire to learn to use a web editor or hand code, is the second most important.
