Marilyn, in the 1880 book, I have Andrew HOERNER Justice of the Peace, born Baden, Germany 19 NOV 1824; emigrated to America 1847; Dubuque March same year; mining, building about ten year, 46th IVI (Iowa Volunteer Infantry) , commisioned Lt Co A; . Held office of "Marketmaster"? for four years. elected JP 1874; Married Mary CONZETT, a native of Switzerland, 19 DEC 1849; They have five children: George A., Mary, David, Johnnie, and Emma. In the later book, I have Isaac L. MCGEE, born in Iowa township 19 AUG 1855, son of James & Martha A. (ANDERSON) MECGEE. and George MCGEE, resident of Farley, IA, born 14 JAN 1841, son of Joseph & Jane (MCKINLEY) MCGEE . There is quite a bit of information on both of these. If this is a MCGEE you are interested in, I'll type it in. Just let me know. None of the other surnames in the biographical section. The remainder of the books are not indexed. To all those interestd in MCGEE I ran across another McGee in the 1880 biographies for Cascade township Sorry I missed it in my earlier response. The 1880 book is not indexed, but they are alpjabetical within each township. From 1880 History of Dubuque County Western Historical Company, Chicago McGee page 917 Cascade township Biographies " T. Coke McGee, M.D. Cascade; was born in Baltimore Co., Md., on the 15th of October, 1830; his father was for forty years a member of the Baltimore Conference of the M. E. Church, and the Doctor affiliates with that denomination, although not a member; he was at home till 18 years of age, then studied medicine and taught school four years. On the 4th of November, 1852, he was married to Miss Mary E. Long, of Frederick Co., Va., by whom he has had four children - Francis T., Edwin M., Nary E., and Augusta V. He took a course of private lectures in medical science by Prof. Dunbar, in 1853 at Baltimore and in 1856 continued his study of medicine in Maryland University; his second course of lectures were taken at Rush Medical College in Chicago, where he graduated in 1856; then practiced medicine three years in Dubuque Co., and in January, 1859, returned to Maryland; in the spring of 1861, he located in Savannah for practice of his profession. During a visit to Richmond, he was appointed Surgeon of the 1st Md. V. I., which was organized at that city; he was soon permanently crippled by an accident, and retired from the service within a year from date of enrollment. He lived in Baltimore from 1862 to 1873; then spent two years in Dallas, Tex., and in 1875 came to Dubuque Co., and to Cascade, where he now has a large practice; he has a pleasant and hospitable home in East Cascade, mot far from the railroad depot of the Narrow Gauge Railroad; he is a member of the Ancient Order of United Workmen, and is a Democrat; his portly form and genial countenance enable a stranger to easily identify the Doctor; he is a coureous gentleman and a successful physician."
