    3. Stephanie, What a coincidence that you should post your message now. I am a subscriber to the "Cascade Pioneer", which formerly had the name Cascade Pioneer and Farley Advertiser. Jus this last issue, April 17, 2002 page 3A, there is an excerpted reprint from a May 1940 article entitled "The History of Farley". I'm not going to type it all, just a few highlights. "In November 1851, Joseph G. Wilson came to Iowa from Illinois to make a house, and pushed his investigations into Taylor township. Here he found a plat of land that met his expectations and having entered it according to law, procured title from the government and became possessed of the entire territory upon which Farley is now built. ... (He built a house) This finished, he returned to Illinois where he remained until the fall of 1852 when he retraced his steps with his family and settled down to create ..Farley. ... The first marriage of residents occurred this year, (1857) but not in Farley. The contracting parties were Charles O'Connor and Miss Sabrina Wilson, who were united in matrimony at Delhi, in Delaware County. ... You can get the microfilm of the Cascade Pioneer through the Iowa State Historical Society, either at Des Moines or Iowa City. I think they are available interlibrary loan, but I'm not sure.
