    3. After 12 years of research, I've had a breakthrough in tracing my LANG-SCHEURICH ancestors to their hometowns in Bavaria. Henry & Catherine [SCHEURICH] LANG settled on a farm near Sherrill, Dubuque County, about 1846. According to census records they had come from Illinois with several children (town unknown). I have many reasons to believe that they immigrated aboard the Bark Potomac, arriving Baltimore on October 18, 1836, and went immediately to Jasper, Dubois County, Indiana. Catherine SCHEURICH was born 1812, at Niedernberg (just south of Aschaffenburg), Unterfranken, Bavaria. Some other surnames associated with this migration to Jasper include GERLACH, HAAS, HARTLAUB, HOCH, HOCHGESANG, KIMMELSHUH, LECHER, PFEFFER, and SCHMIDT/SCHMITT. A later migration to Jasper, Dubois County, came from Pfaffenweiler, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Some immigrants to Jasper came from Reute, Baden. Does anyone have Dubuque connections with Jasper, Dubois County, Indiana? Connections with Niedernberg or Aschaffenburg, or Pfaffenweiler? For more info about my LANG-SCHEURICH ancestors see the "Lang Family History" at my website. It also includes other Dubuque County ancestors -- BECK, BERG, FABRICIUS, KISCH, OETH, REINFRIED, SCHIRRA, WEBER, WUNDERLE, and ZIEGLER. Dan Daniel J.
