I am not related to Mr. Gadau and have no further information. Walter "Giddy" Francis Gadau, 72, Burlington, Iowa, died at 7:03 pm Sunday, February 25, 2001, at the Great River Medical Center, West Burlington, Iowa. He was born August 10, 1928 in Burlington, Iowa to Walter E. and Anna M. Krestin Gadau. He graduated from Burlington High School and Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. On October 9, 1955, he married Beverly Brown; she died July 9, 2000. Walter served in the Army 1947-1949. He was Vice President of Sales for Midwest Manufacturing, retiring in 1990. He was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of the Burlington Golf Club, Elks, American Legion, Delta Upsilon Fraternity and a supporter of Civic Music Association. Walter had a great love for music and the Burlington arts. Survivors include son Michael and Cindy Mason, Marlton, NJ; son, Kurk Gadau, Burlington; a daughter, Beth and Frank Papahronis, Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Kristen, Josh and Dane Mason; one great-grandchild, Cole Mason; one sister, Ann Sorensen, Burlington; one brother, Richard Gadau, Burlington; and 15 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Funeral services for Walter Gadau were held at 1 pm Thursday, March 1, 2001, at St. John's Catholic Church, Burlington, Father Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Burlington. Open visitation was Wednesday, February 28, in Lunning Chapel where the family met with friends in the evening. A Walter Gadau Memorial Fund has been established.
