    3. Hello Listers! I have the 1877 Hand Book of the First Presbyterian Church in Burlington, IA The church had it's beginnings in 1838 with the founding of Presbyterian Church in Burlington by Rev. L. G. Bell. In 1844, the church was dropped from the General Assembly and picked up by the Congregational Church on 4th Street of which Rev. William Salter, D. D. was the pastor. There were a few who were not satisfied with the change and in February 1845 a new Presbyterian church was founded. The first Board of Trustees were selected 29 October, 1846: William B. Ewing John F. Henry, M. D. J. C. Fletcher Robert Armstrong Nathaniel Ervin Col. Isaac Leffler presided over the first meeting to plan the building of a church house at S.W. corner of 5th and Washington Streets, Burlington. It was dedicated in early 1847.
