I'm Phil Fleming, and I've joined the list to find more information on three families: Fleming, Carson, and Cook. I am descended from Michael Fleming, who as born in Mitchelstown, Co. Cork, Ireland in 1823 and came to Burlington with his wife Bridget Maher Fleming and some of his children (others were born in Burlington) via Louisiana in 1858. I have a lot of information on Michael, but not on all of his children or descendants. Michael's grandson, my grandfather, married Dorothy Carson, the daughter of William and Louise (Cook) Carson (see below). I am also descended from William Carson, who was born in Eau Galle, Wisconsin in 1859 and came to Burlington as an adult to take part in the timber business. He married Louise A Cook, daughter of Lyman Cook (see below). They were my great-grandparents. I am also descended from Lyman Cook, who was born in Licking Co, Ohio, in 1820 and came to Burlington in 1840. He married (1) Octavia W. Lorain in 1846 and they had two children, Mary Frances Cook and Harry T. Cook, neither of whom I have been able to learn much about. Octavia died in 1856. Lyman then married Lucia G. (Williams) St. John, widow of a Rufus St. John, in 1861, and they had two children, Lyman C. Cook, who died in infancy, and Louise A. Cook, who married William Carson (above). There's plenty of information on Michael Fleming, his son John Joseph Fleming, and even my grandfather, Philip B. Fleming, as well as on William Carson and Lyman Cook, but the records I've been able to look at don't have much on their families I'd like to "flesh out" the information I have, and trace the siblings families. -- Phil Philip B.
