I am researching Mathew Bronson who was in the 1860 Federal Census for Des Moines Co. as a farmhand for the John and Elizabeth Long family in Danville Twp. I have census records, etc. but am looking for naturalization records for him as I don't find him earlier then this. He is a brick wall for me - no parents or siblings, not on any passenger lists from Norway, his birthplace. Possibly he may have changed his name. The other family from Des Moines Co. I am researching is the William and Elizabeth Prettyman family. Children listed in the 1860 census are John, Robert, Sarah, Abby and Asal. All children except the last who was 10 yrs of age were born in Ohio. I am looking for John, Robert's family, and Abby's family. Abby married a Monrow. Robert and Abby moved with parents and sister Sarah to Decatur County Iowa and are there in the 1880 census. Sarah married Mathew Bronson in Des Moines Co. in 1866. I have copy of marriage document.
