I am searching for the name of the place where four of my ancestors would have been born. I'd also like to verify the birth dates of these people. I have the following information: Mary Crook born Sept. 1883 - Des Moines, Iowa; Florence Isabella Crook born June 28, 1885 - Des Moines, Iowa; Elmer Aaron Crook born April 1888 - Des Moines, Iowa; and George Eldon Crook born Dec. 19, 1890 - Des Moines, Iowa. I don't know if this is referring to the County of Des Moines, or the town/city of Des Moines, but my guess is that it probably is the County. Is there an index to birth registrations available? Were birth announcements publicized in newspapers? Are there baptism records available? If not, can anyone suggest some ideas as to how I can find out what township this family may have been living in? Thanks for any help or advice you are able to give me.
