Thanks Charliece, I didn't think to look in the 1885 census. I did do the 1880 census and Johann was listed as George age 36, he was not listed in the 1900 census. I guessed he had died between 1886 when his last child was born John and 1900. I just received cemetery records a copy of the Haugs that are buried in the Aspen Gorve Cemetery and it had John G. born 1854 (I feel that 1854 is wrong, now I am sure it is wrong if he is listed in 1880 as 36 and 1885 listed as 41unless he lied about his age) died 1888 buried next to Anna born 1854 died 1939. I knew this was my George, but just kept looking at the name over and over, all this time I was looking for George not John or Johann and I am sure that these are the only Haugs in Burlington Iowa around 1880's to 1920's. This puts it in Black and White for me. Thanks again. ----- Original Message ----- From: Charliece Hillery <charliece@usa.net> To: <IADESMOI-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 26, 2001 7:16 AM Subject: [IADESMOI] Haug Family > I have been collecting information on my Hug family in Burlington, and > in the process, found material on Haug, Hugg, Huck etc. Following is a > transcript of the 1885 Iowa census for your family: > > 1885 Burlington 1st Ward, Des Moines, Iowa (FHL 1,021,463) p43 > Name/Age/Sex/Marital/Birthplace > Haug, Johann 41 m m Germany > " , Anna 29 f m " > " , Minnie 10 f s DMco > " , Willie 8 m s " > " , Mary 5 f s " > " , Lizzie 3 f s " > > [FHL 1,021,463 is the call number for the film at the Family History > Library in Salt Lake.] > > Good luck on your search. > Charliece Hillery > > > ==== IADESMOI Mailing List ==== > "Let our posterity know that we, their ancestors . . . amid all trials and temptations, were men of integrity. > ~ Alexander Crummel (1819-1898), religous leader > > > ============================== > Visit Ancestry's Library - The best collection of family history > learning and how-to articles on the Internet. > http://www.ancestry.com/learn/library >
