Dear Roberta, My recent experience with the court house was this: I sent a letter to the County Clerk for a copy of my ggg-grandfather's Declaration of Intent and Naturalization papers. I even had the exact court dates. 6 weeks later I received a letter from The Des Moines County Genealogical Society stating that the people at the court house did not have time to do genealogical research, but that the Society would send me copies for a fee. The total was $8, probably less than the courthouse would've charged anyway. Conclusion: I wouldn't waste your stamp and time sending an inquiry to the court house. The Des Moines County Genealogical Society web page is http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/9825 They have compiled a lot of county data over the years and can probably help you. If you think you might be doing a bit of research in DMC you might think about asking them for a listing of their publications. Good Luck!
