I am not related to Mr. Campbell and have no further information. Elwood "Woody" Campbell, 72, of rural Burlington, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. Born July 18, 1927, in Burlington, he was the son of Thomas and Pearl Wirt Campbell. Woody graduated from Huron High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He then returned to rural Burlington to farm and commercial fish. Woody loved to hunt and fish. He was an avid supporter of Ducks Unlimited. He spent a great portion of his time in Sumner, MO., his favorite hunting spot. He was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include his son, Jeff Campbell of rural Oakville; three daughters, Janel Dunn of Brighton, Tenn., Judy Paulet of Smithsville, Mo., and Janese Brown of Kansas City, MO.; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Darwin Campbell of rural Mediapolis and Marlin Campbell of rural Burlington; a sister, Lila Dixon of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. Friends called Friday at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home at Mediapolis, where the family met with friends from 6-8 pm. The funeral service was held at 10 am Saturday, July 22, at the First United Methodist Church at Mediapolis with graveside service following at the Edwards Cemetery, rural Oakville. The Rev. John Gaulke officiated and Korkee Carruthers provided the organ music. The Mediapolis American Legion provided military rites at the cemetery. A fish fry to celebrate Woody's life was held at the Legion Hall in Mediapolis following the service. A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of Duck's Unlimited. The casket bearers included Kenny Musser, Denny Bowers, Craig Heckenberg, Chuch Friedel, Chuck Smith and Jamie Campbell. The honorary bearers were Hartzell Hillyard, Ed Frank, Ronald Campbell, Warren Oetken, Harry Schrader, and Charlie Poisel.
