I am not related to Dr. Lyons, although I respected him greatly. I have no further information. Dr. Russell "Buck" A. Lyons, 56, Mediapolis, died Saturday July 1, 2000 at Great River Medical Center. Born Oct 23, 1943, he was the son of Alexander Johnston and Fanny Martha Leech Lyons. He married Ame Christie, August 26, 1967 at Grove City, PA. Dr. Lyons was a physician for 31 years, retiring in 1997. He served in the US Army Medical Corps from 1973-1975; was in private practice Internal Medicine 1975-1997. He entered private practice in Mediapolis at the Mediapolis Medical Clinic in 1994. He was a 1965 graduate of Virginia Military Institute; 1969 graduate of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kirksville, Mo.; served his internship and residency at Davenport Osteopathic Hospital in 1973. He was a past member of Scott County Osteopathic Society; current member american Osteopathic Association; member American College of Osteopathic Internists; served as chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine at Davenport Medical Center; was Chairperson of Utilization-Quality Assurance at Davenport Medical Center; second vice president of Iowa Foundation for Medical Review for six years; member of Board of Directors for Iowa Foundation of Medical Care. He assisted in taking students to college interviews; loved his children, golf and any local team sports. Survivors include his wife Ame, Mediapolis; two sons, Christopher Wayne Lyons of Austin, TX and Eric Michael Lyons of State College, PA; one sister, Cathie Lyons, New York City, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial reception for members of the community to celebrate the life of Dr. Russell Lyons was held Thursday, July 6,7-8:30 pm in the Mediapolis City Hall Community Room. In lieu of flowers, memorials were established for the Virginia Military Institute and the Quad Cities Osteopathic Foundation.
