Has anyone had experience getting vital records from Des Moines County? Is it better to go through the Des Moines Co. Genealogical Society or straight to the county clerk's office? (I'm seeking death certificates and doing this long distance.) I want to avoid getting them from the state. Is there an average turnaround time for either organization? Thanks in advance! Laura
