    3. Have you tried contacting the Des Moines Co., Genealogical Soc. in Burlington? They have directories for Aspen Grove Cemetery and am sure they would be happy to look through their records for you for a very nominal fee. They are located in the Burlington IA library. Check the link for the Des Moines Co. Gen. Soc. on the Des Moines Co. GenWeb site. ----- Original Message ----- From: buggs To: IADESMOI-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, January 16, 2001 1:09 PM Subject: [IADESMOI] Ideas Hi, I have run into some problems trying to locate my husbands side of the family the HAUG's. I have looked at the 1870 census of Burlington, Iowa and there are no Haugs listed. On the 1880 census there is George Haug born 1844 Wurttemberg, Germany lumberjack? married to Anna born 1855 Hanover, Germany their children listed in 1880---Anna born 1880, William A. born 1877, Minnie born 1874, John born 1886. So there is no 1890 census so I went to the 1900 census. George is not listed Anna is and the census said that she came to US in 1872. I have the death cert of William A. who died in 1915 and is buried at Aspen Grove Cemterey. William A. Haug's wife Selma Augusta Johnson goes on the marry a Behen she is listed in the 1920 census of Burlington then she married a Vaughn and she died in 1960 and buried at the Aspen Grove Cemetery. But to find out about George and get a death cert. I have to know when he died (I know by his last child that he died between 1886 and 1900, that is ! fourteen years and the Iowa Department of Public Health wants the $10.00 for every year. That would be $140.00 for them to search their records. I do beleive that he is buried at the Aspen Grove Cemetery. I know by the census data that this family lived by the Aspen Grove Cemetery. I would love to see someone do a listing of the Aspen Grove Cemetery. Or if anyone know what happened to the Haugs. I would be willing to submit what research I have done on Burlington Iowa. I have some other names from Census that I copied. If we all had a place to submit anything that we have on Burlington maybe we could help each other. 3. Thank you, I have not been to this site in a long time. Sometimes when you are stuck I just sit it aside and months later go back to researching this side of my family. I will write them and let you know. ----- Original Message ----- From: Bob and Sue Rezek <rezek1021@myexcel.com> To: <IADESMOI-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 16, 2001 9:39 PM Subject: Re: [IADESMOI] Ideas---Haug family > Have you tried contacting the Des Moines Co., Genealogical Soc. in Burlington? 3. Bob and Sue, I want to thank you for the information. I did contact the Des Moines Co. Genealogical Soc. and they sent me a copy of the Haugs that I was looking for that are buried at the Aspen Grove Cemetery. On my husbands side they had John G. Haug born 1854 died Apr. 10, 1888 buried next to Anna A. born 1854 died 1939. They added a note that they had no information on George Haug (he is listed in the 1880 census of Burlington as George born 1844) but I do beleive that this John G. Haug is my George, George was married to a Anna born the same year and there are no other Haugs in the census none in 1870 and in 1880 George and family 1900 Anna listed with children. So I can now send away for his death cert if there is one in 1888. Also listed was his son William A. Haug born 1877 died Aug 30, 1915 next to him is his wife Selma Augusta Johnson, Haug, Behun, Vaughn, that went on to married two other guys and ends up being buried next to him she died in 1960 above her I think is her mother and father Emma Johnson w/August, 24 July 1853 - 15 May 1924. Does w/August mean that they are both buried together or what? But I do think this is her mother and father. What great news. I would like to share the names on the pages that were send to me (two of them) but not sure where to post it. Some of the names were Smith, Wollmer, Brink, Loose, Lubicek, Wachutka, Stodt, Gerdes, Coats, Talbert, Schupick, Leasch, Bell, Walker, Waibel, Dear, Bone, Seitz, Runge, Bartlett, Anderson, Mercer, Jones, Coolbaugh, Marten, Schmidt, Duerr, Seitz, Tee. All I know about this John George Haug is he was born in Wurttemburg, Germany and on the census said that he was working at a Lumber mill and his wife Anna was born in Hanover, Germany. Once I get the death cert maybe it will answer why they were the only Haugs in Burlington. Thanks again for your help.
