Lusk Lines. She was born 1/13/1847, Iowa. She is the daughter of John and Catherine Lusk. Would like to find the maiden surname of Catherine. Sarah married Elijah Lines, the son of John R. and Diana Herndon Lines. Would like to find their marriage date, I think before 1865, but I cannot find any records. Elijah and Sarah Lusk Lines are the parents to 5 children; Franklin, Maud, Jessie, Burdette(Bert) and Luella. Franklin and Bert have the last name of Lyons. Any information on this family would be appreciated.

I am not related to Mr. Wonders and have no further information. Ray Anderson Wonders, 84, of Burlington, Iowa, died Sunday, Dec 30, 2000 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born Jan 25, 1916 in Oakville, to Charles and Emma Anderson Wonders. On July 18, 1937, he was united in marriage to Katheryn Leila Callaway at the Oak Street Baptist Church in Burlington. He attended Oakville High School and later became a certified welder in Philadelphia, PA. He served in the Navy during World War II in the European, South Pacific and Asiatic theaters from 1943 - 1945. He worked in New Jersey shipyards as a welder before returning to Iowa where he worked as a welder at J.I. Case Co., and was an iron worker in local 577. He also owned and operated Wonders Trucking and owned and operated Kate's Cafe in Mediapolis, Iowa. He later belonged to Milwright Local 410 and retired from there in 1981. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Katheryn Wonders, Burlington; two sons, Keith and Dennis Wonders, both of Burlington; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Sophronia Campbell of Wapello. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson and two brothers. The family met with friends Tuesday evening in Lunning Chapel, Burlington, where Moose Rites were conducted at 6:30 pm. The funeral was held at 1 pm Wednesday, Jan 3, at the Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Tyrone Henderson officiating. Interment followed in Aspen Grove Cemetery with Military Rites by VFW Post 10102. A memorial to the West Burlington Fire and Rescue has been established.

    2. Re McCabe, I understand my husband's gg grandfather William Sherman MAXWELL b. 1847 IL married an Emily McCABE as his first wife. William was born in McLean Co., IL and moved to Iowa. With Emily he had a child who died from polio and a daughter Carrie Maxwell who married a GIRNER. I guess Emily died and William remarried another time or two. I am not sure what his father's first name was, but his mother's name was Emmaline Roberts. He also had one or two sisters who married their Roberts cousins. The Ransdells, I think, were originally from somewhere called Surgoinsville or Surgeonsville, don't know for sure what state yet, am researching the McCabes at present.

Mr. Brockway had been a Muscatine resident for 60 years and was a retired carpenter. He was born in Des Moines County, Iowa, Sept. 9, 1881, the son of Josiah and Mary Harrington Brockway. He was married to the former Minnie Tee. She preceded him in death Sept. 19,1946. Surviving are two sons, Howard Brockway of Muscatine and Raymond of Bettendorf. The body is now at the Fairbanks home for funerals, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, with Rev. John Klefman in charge. Interment will be in Memorial Park.

Born July 1, 1940, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Harley and Rosie L. Warth Laue. On April 24, 1960 she married David L. Stewart. Mrs. Stewart was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and served as a 4-H leader. Survivors include three daughters, Mina Johnson of Verona, Wis., Tracy stephens of Wapello, and Leah Jenkins of Sun Parairie, Wis.; five grandchildren; one sister, Carol Harrington of Bettendorf; one brother, Ronald E. Laue of Burlington; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. The graveside committal service for Mrs. Stewart was at 11 am Monday in North Walker Cemetery, with Pastor Dan Doolin officiating. A memorial has been established for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Prugh Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

She was born June 9, 1872, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Mehaffy, and lived in the Mediapolis vicinity her entire life until she was admitted to the nursing home about one year ago. She was married to William H. Swygard, May 22, 1924. He preceded her in death Jan. 29, 1954. One sister, Mrs. Martha Caldwell of Mediapolis survives as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Five brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. The former Mediapolis woman was a member of the Sharon Reformed Presbyterian church near Morning Sun. Funeral services will be held at the Sharon church Tuesday at 2 p.m. and burial will be in Kossuth cemetery.

Jeffrey Lane Charbonneaux, 51, rural Wapello, Iowa, died Thursday afternoon, June 29, 2000, at his home after an extended illness. The son of Richard and Mildren Mack Charbonneaux, he was born October 22, 1948 at Burlington. He married Lori 'Jane' Hostetter on March 1, 1996 at Burlington. Jeff graduated from Mediapolis High School in 1966 and from Southeastern Community College in 1968. He was a general contractor having worked with Bergren Bros., until starting his own business, Hawkeye Contractors. He was a member of the Methodist faith, a member of the Izaak Walton League of Wapello, and of Ducks Unlimited. Survivors include his wife, Jane; two daughters, Kecia Lamm of Minneapolis, Minnisota, and Dusty Prottsman of New London; four grandchildren, two sisters, Nancy Honings of Peoria, Illinois and Lynn Hillyard of Mediapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brothers, Stephen. The funeral ceremony for Jeff Charbonneaux was held at 10:30 am on Monday, July 3, 2000, at the First United Methodist Church at Mediapolis, with the Rev. John Gaulke officiating. Music was provided by Korkee Carruthers as the organist and Tari Hillyard as the vocalist singing "The Lord's Prayer". Burial followed at the Elmwood Cemetery, Morning Sun. A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Izaak Walton League of Wapello and the Hospice of Iowa City.
