    2. found in grandmother West's scrapbook Barry West Grand River July 16-Pfc. Joseph R. Moren arrived Tuesday from Baxter, General hospital, Spokan, Washington for a 30 days furlough with his wife and daughter at Grand River, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Moren, of Corydon and relatives and friends. Pfc. Moren was wounded in action last October 8th near Bologna, Italy. Lloyd Thurston, of Osceola, was in Grand River Thursday. James Lee Yahns, wife and daughter, of Chillicothe, Mo., are spending a week in the Floyd Yahns home. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Burchett and children, of Paarsons, Kansas have spent their vacation in the parental Ray Morrell and Floyd Green homes. Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Street and children of Des Moines were visiting in the parental H. J. Street home last week. They called on Mrs. Edith Street and in the Dick Baker home Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Zora Branner and son, of Dubuque spent last week visiting her mother, Mrs. Bessie Overholtzer. Rev. Richards and Mr. and Brs. Richard Baker were Sunday evening dinner guests of W. H. Campbell and Mrs. Edith Street. Mrs. Clark Trowbridge, of Arkansas, is a guest in the Alva Trowbridge home. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Selladay, of Lincoln, Neb., came Thursday for a visit in the Mary Boyd home. Frank Shelladay has been a guest of his grandmother for some time and will return home with his parents. Ralph Burchett, of Denver, Colorado spent a few days with his brother, Charles and family last week. Among those who attended the funeral of Mrs. Ethel Daughton in Mr. ayr last Monday were: Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Campbell, Mrs. Edith Street, Mrs. Maude Brothers, Mrs. Judith Snyder, Mrs. Augusta Winneiger, Mrs. Ella Burham, Ray Jennings, Mrs. Hattie Jennings, Md. and Mrs. George Bryant and Mrs. Cora Redd, Mrs. Myra JOnes, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bone, Mrs. Florence Branner besides many relatives. James Overholtzer and his mother were visiting the dentist in Leon Friday evening. Mrs. Amy Meyers, of Beech and Mrs. Carol Prescote, of Waterloo spent last Friday with Mrs. Edith Street. Misses Eunice and Donna Boles are in Decorah visiting at the home or REv. and Mrs. Mendenhall. Mrs. Evelyn Dillard and son, Joel came last week to help care for her mother, Mrs. Irvin Brennaman. R.M. 3/c Ray Bryant, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Bryant is spending a furlough at his home in Grand River. Miss Margaret and Peter Lamoree, of Osceola s pent the week end at the Lamoree home here. Miss Emma Overholtzer and Mrs. Yvonne Bigley, of des MOines spent last week end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Overholtzer and their brother, seaman 1/c James Oveholtzer who is on furlough. Mrs. Maud Brothers, Mrs. Ethel Day and Mrs. Ella Burham were Leon visitors Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Davison, of Donelson., were in Grand River Sunday, July 8th and called on a few friends and spent the day at the farm. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Dean entertained the Penochle Club Monday evening. Mrs. Dean, of Osceola is a guest in the home of her son, Lloyd and family. Mr. and Mrs. Eldred McClure took their son to Osceola Friday for a Tonsilectomy. Jimmie Allen of Guthrie Center, came Tuesday for a acation visit in the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Snyder. Mrs. Lora Bryant spent Wednesday night with Margaret Northey of Beaconsfield.
