    2. Bill Stewart
    3. No Jack Stewart is the son of F. S. Stewart who owned the funeral home and the furniture store. I believe that Jack and Jean Stewart did have a son Bill. My Stewart line descends from a Peter Cartwright Stewart who homesteaded in Decatur County in 1851. My father was Leo Milton Stewart and my mother was Winifred Stewart. I was born in Decatur County a few miles south of the Stewart Homestead. My father was a farmer and we were living in Fremont County in Southwest Iowa when my dad died at the age of 32 in April 1932. My mother moved with my sister Virginia and I back to Leon where we combined household with my Culbertson grandparents William and Juda Ellen. The house was two blocks west of the old Leon High School. This next paragraph I copied from my mothers notes. "I started working in an office in the Court House here in Leon (doing clerical work) on May 4, 1934 (at $7.50 per week). Was there until November 22, 1935 when I was employed as a timekeeper on a government project in this county until September 1939 when I was hired as High School Librarian (at $60 per month). I continued in that work until 1947, when I started working in the office of the Superintendent of Schools until the fall of 1959 when I became District Secretary of the Schools. I gave that up in 1962 when I got Joe Dale to take over that job and I continued doing clerical work (full time) in that office until September 1965 when I started working just part time and seven years later I handed in my resignation July 1, 1972."
