Nichols and daughter Dorothy Garber were Osceola callers Thursday afternoon. Esther Machlan of Osceola is spending a few days in the Clarence Machlan home. The Fairview P.T.A. meeting was held at the school house on Tuesday evening. Mrs. Maurice German, who has been with her husband in Texas came last week for a visit with Emery German of near Weldon. Maurice graduated the past week as an airplane mechanic. Mrs. J. A. Nichols and Katherine Burns are spending a few days in Chicago with Lucile Nichols. Mr. and Mrs. John Burns, Mr. and Mrs. Job Burns and Jerry spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Scott and children near Weldon. Mrs. Carrie Luce and children spent Sunday afternoon in the John Rydel home. Emory German and Mrs. Maurice German spent Sunday with Sherm Hullinger family near Leon. Clyde Watson and Bob Kaufman helped Orland Watson haul hay one day the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Moore called at the Carrie Luce home Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Updike and some spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Benson and daughter Alice Marie of near Garden Grove. Fairview school will have a donation and auction sale, also a program Tuesday evening. March 23, to help raise their quota for the Red Cross. Several people from this vicinity attended the Jordan hale near Leon last Tuesday afternoon. Katherine Burns, who has been working for Mrs. Alta Tompkins near Osceola, spent a few days the past week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Burns and family. Lyda Nordyke, who teaches in Ames, spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. T. Davis.
