    2. found in grandmother West's scrapbook Barry West July 15,-Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Thompson visited her mother, Mrs. Victoria Foster at Ridgeway, Mo., Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Millie McLain was operated on Saturday at the Decatur County Hospital. Pfc. Garland Felts arrived home on furlough last Wednesday. He has been serving in Europe. Rev. and Mrs. Wm. Campbell left Saturday to hold gospel services at Eagleville, Mo. Dr. Estella Norman and Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Grimes returned Monday from their trip in northern Iowa. Dr. Norman left Monday for Battle Creek, Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Black and son, Jack of Des Moines s pent Saturday night and Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stoneburner. Mrs. Alice Naughton, who has been caring for her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeffries, returned last Sunday from a visit to her home in St. Louis. Her nephew, Richard Smith accompanied her. Mrs. Manley Smith of Grundy Center, Iowa, another daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffries cared for them while Mrs. Naughton was away. Pfc. Willard Elston came home Wednesday from the hospital at Springfield, Mo,. for thirty days furlough. Eight little girls helped Miss Julie Reed celebrate her fifth birthday Saturday, July 7th. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Doolittle and Mrs. Luella Doolittle returned home from Clarinda last Monday. Norm Boswell was operated upon Tueday for appendicitis at the Decatur county hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hart are happy over the birth of a fine girl at the Decatur county hospital last Sunday. Miss Darlene Cartwright and Harold Mart of Pocahontas, Iowa were married last Friday at Pocahontas. The bride lived in Davis City until she graduated from high school and her many friends here wish them happiness. Pvt. and Mrs. Rober Gannan returned home from Gilman City, Mo., wher they had been visiting her parents. Mrs. Jack Hatcher and children spent Saturday night and Sunday with her father, Lawrence Frost at Leon. Miss Mary Crawford, of Emerson, Iowa came Friday to visit her sister, Mrs. Lawrence Ivie. Mr. and Mrs. Ivie have moved back to the farm for a few months. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hill attended the V.F.W. and auxillary Council meeting at Dex MOines Saturday night and Sunday. Willis and Esta Hill accompanied them as far as Des Moines going on to their home near Churdan. Jess Carrico, who has been visiting his sister, Mrs. Della Willis left Friday for his home in Torrington, Wyoming. Vernon Hill was in Leon on Business Monday afternoon. Mules Post went back to work at Omaha Sunday. Pfc. and Mrs. Garland Felts, Nate Cornett, and Mrs. Francis Gore spent Thursday until Monday in Elston, Iowa visiting relatives. Mrs. Woodrow Lee received the Bronze Star from her husband Pvt. Woodrow Lee. It was awarded to him November 3 at Palaui Island. woodrow was awarded the Purple Heart some time ago. He is now serving in the Phillippines.
