    3. Hi Stacey, From: "Stacy Smith" <slsmith@grm.net> Sent: Sunday, August 15, 2004 1:03 PM Subject: [IADECATU] Clipping 1861 OR 1961? News paper >I found a front page of a Leon paper in my grandma's things..... I thought I might share with you. Here is the thing, I think there is a "typo" in the paper..... The paper date SAYS Thursday, October 12, 1861...but in two separate articles it refers to 1961-62.....So.... I once thought this was 1861, but the more I look at it, the more I think it may be NINETEEN 61. If anyone can confirm any of the below articles with names/dates of your family, please let me know. (Of course, if you look, this is from the Leon Journal-Reporter...which would really mean it was NINETEEN 61, since the Journal and the Reporter didn't combine until....hey, when did it combine? Anyway, I thought you might enjoy some of this.. > > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > > Leon Journal-Reporter "The Newspaper that serves all Decatur County" > > Leon Iowa, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12, 1861 If you go here: http://www.calendarhome.com/tyc/original.html And enter 1961, you will see that Oct 12 was a Thurs in 1961, but not in 1861. Furthermore, Oct 16 was a Monday in 1961. I also doubt that "drivers training" was being taught in 1861. And how about football helmets?
