    2. 50 Years Ago (March 31, 1955) Three business buildings on the west side of the square in Corydon were completely destroyed with all of their contents in a fire with estimated loss at $200,000. The buildings destroyed were: R.R. Roush Drug Store, the building owned by Mrs. C.Z. Clarke; the P.M. Place Variety, the building owned by Mrs. Eva Miles; and the Glines and Company Mercantile Store, the building owned by Mrs. Miles. The Leon High School one-act play, "The Storm," rated an excellent in the state district contest at Clarinda. Members of the cast included: Sally Tullis, Ed Hansell, Miles Lane, Barbara Warner and Nancy McClaran. Dixie Lovett, Janet Hopkins and Jerry Dale had charge of sound effects and props. Claison Groff of the Leon speech department was the play director. Pvt. Edgar Oneil Craig is receiving his basic training at Camp Chaffee, AK. He is the son of Mrs. Roy Felts of Davis City.
