found in grandmother West's scrapbook Barry West Ed McCreary, well known farmer, had quite an unpleasant experience Friday afternoon, when the truck he was driving and attempted to turn and leave the parking space near the park, went into reverse and absolutely refused to be controlled. The result was he backed across the street, then across the walk in front of the Logan Variety store and only came to a halt after crashing through the big front window, (on the west) of that store. The bench in front of that window which ordinarily is occupied, fortunately was vacant as it was reduced to splinters. Bad as it all was it might easily have been much worse.
