    2. Part 4 Garden Grove Mr. and Mrs. Frank Foote, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Smith and daughter, Joan and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mitchell honored Pvt. Quintin smith and his wife and family at a dinner party held at the Mitchell home Friday evening. Miss Wilma Ingram is spending a few days in the home of her brother, Paul. Miss Mildred Stroll, of englewood, Calif., Is visiting with her father and her sister, Henry Stroll and Mill Margaret. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Young are vacationing at Cass Lake, Minnesota. Word has been received by her parents, that Beverly Dale, who has been working at Atlantic has undergone an operation, and will be home soon. Pvt. Quintin Smith, who is home for a furlough, is visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Smith, and with his wife's parents. His wife Alice, and their two daughters accompanied Pvt. Smith here from Des Moines. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Knapp and Mrs. Cecil Franks, all of Des Moines, visited with Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Kanpp sunday. Mrs. Franks remained for a short vacation at home with her parents. Mrs. Lottie Ward, Miss Nadine and Miss Mable McClung were shopping in Des Moines Thursday. Mrs. Emma T. Christianson, of Fort Dodge is spending an extended visit with her nephew and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Nordstrum and other relatives. Mrs. J. H. McNamee and children, Beverly, Robert and Nancy, of Des Moines spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Beavers. Mrs. Emma Dale Clay Pleuss and son , Donald and Pamilia Clay, and Nancy Fouste spent Sunday in Leon, where they visited Pamilia's mother and baby brother, Mrs. Dorothy clay and son. Gail Massey, who works in Des Moines, was home over the week end. Miss Beverly Thurlow, Mrs. James Taggart and Dorothy all employed in Des Moines, were week end visitors in their homes. Miss Katheryn O'Neil of Humeston, formerly of this town, and Max Baker were united in marriage at the Baptist church in Humeston Sunday.

    3. Barry, thanks for posting these items. I've visited Nadine & Mable McClung many times when they were living in the beautiful McClung House in Garden Grove, IA. The wedding of Kitty and Max Baker was an interesting item to read also. The school bus stopped at their farm home for their children when I was going to school at LeRoy Consolidated. These items bring back many fond memories of Decatur County.
