    2. Garden Grove Part 4 July 19, 1945 1st Lieut. and Mrs. Keith Kimberlain spent the weekend at the Kendle Strong and Helen Peterson homes. Mrs. Nadine Carr Whittemore and daughter, Bonnie, were calling on friends and relatives in Garden Grove, Tuesday. Mrs. Whittemore is planning to stay in Leon for an indefinitely period. Mrs. Lou McBroom is visiting her sister in Chariton for a few days. Mrs. J. Robert Hinebaugh of Ottumwa is visiting for a few days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. V. Hinebaugh and with Harold Hinebaugh, A. R. M. 2/c and wife. Grace Schooler and Jack Torrey were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Coffey Sunday. Miss Nadine McClung will leave July 17, for a few days visit with friends at Carrol and Schleswig, Iowa. Miss McClung formerly taught at Schleswig. Mrs. Gerald Harris and daughter, Nina, who is employed in Des Moines, spent the week end in Humeston visiting friends and relatives. Mrs. Lottie Ward is having her building in the business section of town repaired. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Morris and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Boyce and son of Humeston were dinner guests of Mrs. Fannie Trysler. Miss Grace e. vail has been quite ill the past week. Miss Betty Spidle, who is employed at Nevada, and Miss frances stokesbary, of Colorado, were in Garden Grove over the week end. Betty visited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Spidle, while Frances visited in the home of her friend, Miss Jean Fisher. Mr. and Mrs. Curly Cummings and son, Phillip, were in Des Moines, Thursday on business. Henry Stroll, Miss Margaret and Miss Mildred Stroll were visiting with old friends and relatives at Moravia. Mr. and Mrs. Al Borden spent one day last week in his home town of Clarinda.
