found in grandmother West's scrapbook Barry West Mrs. Myrtle Carson, elderly Cainsville woman and the widow of Henry Carson, former Albany man, was fatally burned Wednesday when her clothing ignited as she attempted to rekindle a stove fire, says the Bethany Republican Clipper. The accident occurred in the morning, and Mrs. Carson died about 8 o'clock that night. Mrs. Carson had a room at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Bain, where Richard Clegg had stopped that morning to build a fire for Mrs. Carson. The fire did not grow as it was expected, and Mrs. Carson stuffed some papers into the stove to renew it. Flames spread from these papers, which protruded from the stove door, and set fire to her clothing. Apparently with idea of smothering the flames Mrs. Carson leaped into her bed but the bedding also ignited. When Mr. and Mrs. Bain responded to Mrs. Carson's cries, her clothing was almost burned away. Mr. and Mrs. Carson lived at Albany for many years, but two or three years ago she moved from there to Cainsville, where she had relatives and where she believed she could receive better cars. Mrs. Carson body was taken to Albany for funeral services and burial.
