Wonder how many of you remember the heat in Iowa back in 1934 and 1936. I read or heard that those years had the highest temp on record.........115 or around there. I surely remember those days when we had no a/c or even electric fans. We kids made a bed on our front porch as so hot in the house and we thought that was a blast. In Leon we were so fortunate to have a swimming pool which was constructed by the WPA or CCC men. Anyway, my little bro and sis and I went to the pool almost every day back then. How lucky we were.. I just remembered something else. I had excema when I was a baby and I was born in 1935. No wonder my Mom had to put stiff cuffs on my arms so I wouldn't scratch my face. Now I know how that itching can drive you crazy......and back then, we didn't have any of the cortisone creams......it was ugly, brown ointment and I doubt it did any good! Just got my dresses dirty. As Betty says, we live through it. Yes. Irma I do remember the Hot smmers of 1934 & 1936. We lived North of Leon and one day it was 119 in the shade. No electricity at that time. I wonder how we survived but I guess we didn't know any better, we just lived through it. Betty in Weldon
